Terms of Use

The short version. Play the game, be decent on the leaderboard, do not break it on purpose. It is free, it is provided as is, and the maps belong to the people who made them.
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the GlobeFindr website at globefindr.com and the GlobeFindr iOS app, both operated by Axel Portalupi, a sole trader (auto-entrepreneur) registered in France. By playing, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the game.
2. The game is free
GlobeFindr costs nothing and carries no advertising. There is nothing to buy and no subscription. If that ever changes, it will change here first.
3. No account
There is no sign-up and no password. Your progress and your leaderboard identity live on the device you play on. That means two things worth knowing: clearing your browser data or deleting the app loses your streak and your name, and we cannot restore either, because we have no way to prove it was yours.
4. Display names
You choose a name to appear on the leaderboard. It is shown publicly to every other player. You agree not to choose a name that:
- is obscene, hateful, harassing, or targets anyone by race, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality
- impersonates another person, a company, or us
- contains anyone's personal information, including your own
- advertises anything, or is a website address
We can remove any name and block the device that set it, at our discretion and without notice. To report a name, write to hello@globefindr.com.
5. Fair play
Scores are calculated on your device, which means a determined person can send us a score they did not earn. Please do not. We may remove scores that are impossible or obviously fabricated, and block the device behind them. The leaderboard is for fun and is not a record of anything.
Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the game or its servers, and do not use it to distribute anything harmful.
6. Multiplayer links
A match link is not a secret. Anyone who has it can play that match and see its scoreboard. Send them only to people you mean to.
7. What belongs to whom
The GlobeFindr name, logo, design, text and code are ours. You may play the game and share links to it; you may not copy it, rebrand it, or sell it.
The satellite imagery is not ours and remains the property of its providers. It is shown under their terms, and the credits appear in the game as those terms require. Imagery comes from Cesium ion and Microsoft Bing Maps, from Esri when they are unavailable, and offline from Sentinel-2 cloudless by EOX IT Services GmbH, which contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data. You may not extract, store or reuse the imagery from this game for anything else.
8. Availability
This is a small project run by one person. The game, the leaderboard and any part of it may be slow, break, change or stop entirely, at any time and without notice. Puzzle history and leaderboard scores may be reset.
9. No warranty
GlobeFindr is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Locations, borders, names and distances shown in the game are for entertainment. Do not use them for navigation or for anything that matters.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using the game. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Age
The game is not directed at children under 13, and under 13s should not choose a display name or post a score.
12. Apple
The iOS app is downloaded through the App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms, has no obligation to support the app, and is not responsible for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Changes and law
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continuing to play means you accept the new version. These terms are governed by French law, and the courts of France have jurisdiction, without affecting any protection you have as a consumer where you live.
